The Art of Pairing Food and Activities with Different Cannabis Highs

*Please do not consume marijuana with our without a come down aid if you plan on driving.*Marijuana is a potent substance that has recently been destigmatized and instead lauded as one of the best ways to manage pain and certain disorders.  The use of cannabis as a recreational substance to enhance activities is an art in and of itself.

It is impossible to dive into the multitude of ways that you can combine terpenes to yield different flavors, and even more impossible to talk about the hundreds of food combinations that yield the most scrumptious results.

However, this post will cover the two major activities often associated with marijuana: eating and going out to enjoy life.

Sativa Activities

WHen it comes to sativa, the best way to think about it is an upper of sorts.  Most people who take sativa comment that there is an elevated mood, an ability to think outside the box, and have more energy.

Another positive with this is that for those who deal with pain, seizures, and more, many of their symptoms can be relieved when utilizing the right strain.

This makes sativa strains great for the following activities:

  • Out at the Movies

  • Artistic Exploits

  • Out and About

  • Going to the Zoo

If you stop and think it out, anything where you are going to be active and have some sort of mental interaction, then sativa is the best decision for you.

Indica Activities

If you haven’t heard that indica means in-da-couch, then you are probably still rather new to the marijuana scene.  Indica strains are known for their heavy body and head high that can really weigh you down into the couch.

For many people experiencing pain, indica tends to be a species of choice however it can also lead to more depressive thoughts and actions.  Although this is not always common, it is important to consider the side effects when utilizing an indica strain.

Wonderful indica activities are as follows:

  • Staying In

  • Naptime

  • Social Gatherings

  • Going on a walk

The reason that social gatherings are included in this list is because of people who experience social anxiety.  Including indica in your social gathering prep can help decrease stress and make it easier to socialize with others.

On the other hand, indica is also great for going to sleep and taking a pain free nap.  There are plenty of options!

A Note on Hybrids

Hybrid strains are very variable for everyone.  For some people they can easily handle all types of hybrids and for others, the combination of indica and sativa makes it difficult to find a happy medium.  As an example, some people with anxiety are going to find that their anxiety is elevated with a hybrid.

The idea of trying out your marijuana before going to your activities is a good thing to follow.

Eating More than Munchies

Like stated earlier, there is a distinct art to pairing foods with different strains of marijuana both indica, sativa, and hybrids.  One of the best ways is to break down the flavors of the plant itself and pair it with foods that go well with the primary flavors.

For example, one of my favorite flavors is the citrus elements that you can find in Lemon Haze.  The crisp notes and tart aftertaste pair well with fish, veggie plates, deep greens, and sometimes sweets depending on how neutral the sweet is.

There are strains that have more caramel flavors or woody flavors.  Those types of flavors will pair well with more savory foods that have deep rosemary flavors as well as varying meats.

Many different strains host a vast floral array which makes each strain pair well with its own kind of food.  When you find what pairs well for you, you are sure to fall in love with marijuana and its complexity all over again.

On the other hand when it comes to food, there’s also the texture.  With sativa, crunchier foods and more firm textures are going to pair best while smoother more luxurious foods are going to pair well with indica.

Conclusion

If you want to pair your food with something that isn’t going to get you too high, that’s a bit of a challenge when it comes to THC.  Looking for strains that are higher in THCV or finding products like HIBEGONE can help decrease the high so you can enjoy a true flavor journey.

Combine your flavors and activities with care and you won’t regret having some fun enjoying the art of food and activities with marijuana.

Happy pairing!
